Sichtbare Netzwerke: Forschungspolitik und Life-Sciences zwischen 1990 und 2016 in der Schweiz. Eine Fallstudie zu SystemsX.ch (2018)

How did scientific research get the face it presents today in glossy brochures and at network events? Using the example of the Swiss initiative for systems biology SystemsX.ch, the book shows how the concept of network shaped the thinking, acting and perception of research between 1990 and 2016. The emergence of the initiative was an expression of a fundamental change in the way research funding was conceived, justified and organized in the 1990s. At the same time, the SystemsX.ch case study reflects the history of biology after the human genome was sequenced around the turn of the millennium. Under the heading of systems biology, the initiative bundled the heterogeneous technologies, research subjects and methods of post-genomic life sciences.
