In this chapter we highlight some of the important influences that have shaped the U of C’s Cumming School of Medicine since its beginnings, examine the school’s unique features, and assess its impact both locally and more broadly. The 1964 report of the Royal Commission on Health Services (the Hall Commission) drove the timing of the Cumming School of Medicine’s founding.
