Looking back on the Galileo 'matter' in its entirety and complexity, it is necessary to reconsider the events of the period 1615-1620 and what they represented. In an unitary interpretation of the affair, several of the most significant episodes of those years often end up assuming a totally marginal role. If we instead attempt not to look at them simply in function of the 1633 sentence, we soon realize that the episode is anything but clear, and still fraught with obscure and little-known passages. The two unpublished documente presented herein have the purpose to confirm this line of interpretation.
