The Dean Gall Years, 1997–2007 (2021)

The decade between 1997 and 2007 was a period of continued and very visible growth in undergraduate and graduate education in Canadian faculties of medicine.¹ Those working in the Dean’s Office at the U of C Faculty of Medicine during this era also recall the busy pace at which the faculty created its research in stitutes and constructed new facilities, among many other innovative projects.² Their testimony, and the working papers then circulating in the school of medicine (such as the “Orange Bulletin” comprising the latest curricular and educational news), allow for a historical reconstruction of the excitement and chal3
