Nel rinnovamento scientifico e culturale tra Otto e Novecento, si costituì un saldo legame di collaborazione tra medicina, pedagogia, antropologia e psicologia. Lo studio di Aurelio Lui del 1898, che qui si propone con un’ampia ricostruzione culturale e storico-pedagogica, riflette tutte le tematiche che hanno fatto vivere il dibattito attorno al tema specifico dell’isterismo infantile. Tale classificazione nosografica, infatti, ricondotta alle sue manifestazioni non solo clinico-patologiche, permetteva di rischiarare le azioni del “buon educatore”. La capacità dell’educatore di far fronte al carattere isterico del fanciullo, ha scritto Lui, doveva scoprire la forza della saggezza persuasiva e della capacità comprensiva e ordinante dell’intervento pedagogico.
