Memorie del confezionamento dei medicinali che vengono inviati per conto di Sua Maestà all'Hospital Real di Manila nel galeone Capitana Santo Cristo de Burgos che fa ritorno a suddette isole nell'anno 1717 (2021)

The Manila Galleon linking Acapulco to the Philippines was the last stop on a global route linking Spain with the American colonies and Asia. It involved an important exchange of assets, knowledge and ideas. We brought to light the list of medicines destined for the Pharmacy of the Hospital Real in Manila that were on board the galleon Santo Cristo de Burgos, which made its journey to the Philippines in 1717. On board was traveling the new governor Fernando Manuel Bustillo Bustamante who arrived in the Islands putting order in the accounts of the Royal Treasury. Its management meant significant savings for the tills, reducing the cost of the Hospital Real Pharmacy by over 7.000 pesos. In those years, the pharmacy and the Hospital Real were administered by Miguel de la Torre. We also present a pharmacy inventory which gives us information on tools, furniture and reference books. The list of medicines that the galleon was carrying consists of 31 drawers that allow us to get an idea of the therapeutic arsenal that was transported from the port of Acapulco to the Hospital Real Pharmacy in Manila.
