Benelux Rail 1970-1980 is het tiende deel van de serie die in 1980 het levenslicht zag als een samenwerkingsproject van tekst- en beeldauteurs uit de drie landen. De nieuwe editie gaat dieper in op de achtergronden van de ontwikkelingen van de jaren zeventig en is levendig geschreven door Marcel Vleugels. De indeling is dezelfde als die van de vroegere edities maar heeft grafisch aan helderheid gewonnen. De historische foto's zijn gemaakt door belangrijke Europese en Noord-Amerikaanse fotografen van die tijd. 0Recent onderzoek naar gebeurtenissen en ontwikkelingen van de jaren zeventig levert een boeiend portret op van de veranderingen bij spoor- en tramwegen. Al dan niet vergeten gebeurtenissen en ontwikkelingen zijn in deze uitgave samengevoegd tot een nieuw sterk beeld. Dat laat zien dat de jaren zeventig ook zeer belangrijk waren voor de huidige stand van zaken. Overal stuitte interessant oud toen op energiek nieuw. 0De uitgave bevat daarnaast vele tips en verwijzingen voor modelbouwers, spoorwegfotografen en railtoeristen. Onder andere in de vorm van een magnifieke spoorwegkaart van Luxemburg anno 1965 getekend door Chris Peeters. Nieuwsgierige lezers kunnen via de bibliografie verder hun weg vinden in de internationale wetenschappelijke en journalistieke spoorwegliteratuur. Kortom een samenballing van door Piet Gerards Ontwerpers te Amsterdam typografisch voorbeeldig ontworpen pagina's 'historische sensatie', als gebruikelijk gevangen in een harde kaft.
