Agricultural Equipment Inventors and invention Agricultural technology 19th century 20th century Meyenburg, Konrad Viktor von (1870-1952)

Der Ingenieur Konrad von Meyenburg (1870-1952) ist eine wichtige Person der Technik. Dass er heute weitgehend vergessen und so wenig über sein Wirken bekannt ist, hängt auch damit zusammen, dass es (noch) keinen Nachlass von ihm gibt. Eine Möglichkeit, trotzdem mehr über die Ideen und das Wirken des auf beiden Seiten des Atlantiks aktiven Erfinders zu erfahren, besteht in der Rekonstruktion und Analyse der Rezeption seiner Erfindungen. In diesem Beitrag wird nach den Reaktionen gefragt, die die von Meyenburg erfundene, sich an den Ideen Frederick Winslow Taylors und den Fähigkeiten des Maulwurfs gleichermassen orientierende Bodenfräse auslösten. Im Zentrum stehen die Wahrnehmungen der Bäuerinnen und Gärtner, deren Arbeit durch die motorengetriebene Bodenfräse am stärksten tangiert wurde. ? [The engineer Konrad von Meyenburg (1870-1952) is an important person in technology. The fact that he is largely forgotten today and so little is known about his work is also due to the fact that there is (still) no bequest from him. One way to learn more about the ideas and the work of the inventor, who was active on both sides of the Atlantic, is to reconstruct and analyze the reception of his inventions. In this article, we will ask about the reactions that the rotary tiller invented by Meyenburg, which is based equally on the ideas of Frederick Winslow Taylor and the abilities of the mole, triggered.
