[Abstract translated by Google Translate: This is the abstract in English… While art for Leonardo is a demonstration, as much as his suggestive scientific illustrations, there is no doubt that the rocks that appear in his drawings and paintings are influenced by his geological knowledge, albeit reasonably limited with regard to space-time dynamics. From the formation of the layers and their stratigraphic superposition to the classification and granulometric zoning of sediments, up to the processes and mechanisms of weathering and degradation, erosion, transport and sedimentation and lithification of lithoid rocks. And these rocks not only serve to perfect the realism and admirable beauty of his drawings and paintings, but also illustrate his effort to understand how the body of the Earth as a macrocosm works. As evidenced by his drawings and paintings, Leonardo is attracted by steep mountains and sharp and jagged peaks, but the stratified sedimentary rocks fascinate him even more, so much so as to make them the object of extraordinary geological details. This essay stems from a research project by the University of Urbino entitled "Arts and Sciences: Leonardo da Vinci."]
