Giacomo Zanibelli (Author)
The study of the relationship between fascism and science and in particular in relation to agricultural progress becomes meaningful in order to analyse the development of economic policy in Italy during the Fascist period. This study, starting with one essential view on the years of the Great War, aims to focus, under the new historical lines, on the evolution of the concept of modernization in agriculture. The article tries to analyze the major symptomatic indicators for an analytical reconstruction of the development of the agricultural sector in Italy through a historical approach. The research looks carefully at the protagonists of the process of renewal deployed by fascism, as well as the causes and contributing factors that led Mussolini to strongly believe in a large agricultural Nation. The modernization was studied by focusing on the great works, such as the “integral land reclamation” and the battle of the grain,” and on the role of scientific advances in this growth process, trying to talk economics and history.
