Description A comparative analysis of Roger Bacon's Speculum alchimiae with a 1692 translation by William Salmon, and Paracelsus's Liber de nymphis, sylphis, pygmaeis et salamandris et de caeteris spiritis with a 1964 translation by Manly Hall, shows that “information presupposed by the original is significantly as well as predictably altered in translation to fit the constraints of a new way of thinking.” Cited in Diss. Abstr. Int. A 55 (1994): 1572. Univ. Microfilms order no. 94-28509.
