This study examines the original transcripts of team meetings held between members of the Bateson Research Projects on paradoxes in communication, from June of 1955 to May of 1958. This research focuses on the analysis of these conversations and construction of themes and sub-themes as they emerged. Following a hermeneutical approach, the study itself consisted of the investigation of the original transcripts, juxtaposed with literature both published and unpublished by members of the team and others. After extensive immersion in the data, themes and sub-themes began to emerge. The result of this was an expansive (though not comprehensive) categorization of the contents of the "Jackson Conference" transcripts. Though many write about the members of this team, both collectively and individually, and taut their ideas as muse to their theory and therapy, few have done so with unfettered access to these documents. With the near abandonment of an interactional view of human behavior in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy, and in other mental health related fields, the relevance of the study of these ideas is profound.
