Dealing with the polymath GW Leibniz (1646-1716) in the period of National Socialism are from an extremely diverse and complex picture. The spectrum of interpretations oscillated between Nazi complaint of "German philosopher" for the military science and recourse to Leibniz's intellectual estate almost as a kind of "antidote" against the Nazi ideology. At an international conference in Hanover in 2011, the first time this hitherto neglected by the research topic has been dealt with in its many facets. Was questioned also the complex relationship between science and politics in the "Third Reich". For comparative purposes, the contemporary Leibniz Research in Spain, Italy, Japan, France and Hungary was included.
