If we take into account the number of listed manuscripts of Peter Peregrinus of Maricourt's De magnete (1269), it seems that this treatise was very popular during the Middle Ages, but we have very few testimonies about its use during that time. It is therefore interesting to note the explicit reference to Maricourt in De sex inconvenientibus, an anonymous treatise dating from the beginning of the 14th century, written in Oxford by someone who knew the theory of motion of Thomas Bradwardine and of his contemporaries very well. We will also see how this author discussed the question of magnetic attraction.
