Weill-Parot, Nicolas (Author)
This book aims to highlight the profound rationality of scholastic scientific thought in the Middle Ages - specifically the thirteenth to the mid-fifteenth century - or even its true rationalism, from the depth study and compared three questions were all challenges for her: the occult natural, that is to say, the occult properties in which they explained the inexplicable phenomena by the arrangement of the primary qualities (hot, cold, wet and dry), the magnetic attraction which seemed to upset the Aristotelian axiom that in any movement that moves and what is moved in contact, and "abhors a vacuum" which was that nature was brought to contradict its common process to avoid formation empty in a world that Aristotle had wanted full. The work, by analyzing a large number of sources, often unpublished, especially comments to Aristotle's Physics, hopes to make a contribution to both the history of reason and that of the concept of nature.
