The work of the famous naturalist Alexander von Humboldt includes a surprising number of astronomical topics. These include astrogeodetic local regulations, geomagnetic research and cosmogonic considerations, the latter reflected found especially in his late work "Kosmos". His most important astronomical interlocutor was the director of the Berlin Observatory, Johann Franz Encke, who had recognized the short orbital period of the comet named after him, and calculates the authoritative figure for the solar parallax. He gave the solar system at the time the force scale. The correspondence between Humboldt and Encke is a lively scientific exchange of views which also included the dissemination of the latest news as calculations that went later writings, especially in Humboldt. One learns details of the life of the Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences, gaining insights into the international contacts of scholars and learn the way to know the everyday life of the two researchers.
