Michel Foucault e as condições de possibilidade do evolucionismo de Darwin (2014)

unapi

The History and Philosophy of Biology provide important issues for Michel Foucault. In this way, this paper presents Foucault's view concerning the conditions of possibility of Darwin's evolution. Foucault considers that Cuvier's biological classification was a condition historically necessary for the Darwinian speech, placing Cuvier much more close to Darwin than Lamarck. In spite of admitting that Lamarck proposed a theory of transformation of species and Cuvier did not accept the biological changing, Biology needed Cuvier's contributions to introduce the idea that species are the result of historical forces, which provided the conceptual framework that made Darwin's theory of evolution possible. This view may provide interesting aspects for discussion in History and Philosophy of Biology.
