Re it Gürsey, M.D. (1889-1962) was a military physician who developed an interest in basic science during his radiology training in the 1920's, and attended courses given by M. Curie ve P. Langevin in Paris, and later by E. Rutherford ve J. J. Thomson in Cambridge. He was the physics teacher of the Kuleli Military Academy in Istanbul when he published a critique of Marcelin Berthelot's (1827-1907) work on the occasion of his centenary in 1927. In an academic climate of eulogy, Dr. Gürsey's article stands out as a singular and objective essay.
