Ernst Laqueur (1880-1947), founder of endocrinology in the Netherlands was among the first on the continent who knew how to prepare hormones from glands and organs of cattle. Laqueur combined the science handy with entrepreneurship. In 1923 he founded together with Swans Bergs slaughterhouses and factories in Oss NV Organon. The company, which produced on a large scale insulin and testosterone, grew into an international company with sales in forty countries. Ernst Laqueur (1880-1947), grondlegger van de endocrinologie in Nederland, behoorde tot de eersten op het continent die uit klieren en organen van slachtvee hormoonpreparaten wisten te bereiden. Laqueur combineerde de wetenschap handig met het ondernemerschap. In 1923 richtte hij samen met Zwanenbergs Slachterijen en Fabrieken in Oss de NV Organon op. Dit bedrijf, dat op grote schaal insuline en testosteron produceerde, groeide uit tot een internationaal bedrijf met verkoop in veertig landen.
