This chapter discusses Trofim Lysenko's career and the rise of Lysenkoist science or Lysenkoism from the 1930s until the early 1950s. It discusses Lysenko's work in developmental physiology of plants and then looks closely at some Lysenkoist scientific tenets and practices. The chapter suggests that Lysenkoism was influenced by Lamarckian ideas and a Marxist science policy.
