The peculiar, since the 13th century in manuscripts and printed diverse traditional "Zodiac Men" have met with considerable scientific interest since the beginning of the 20th century. The medieval concept of man according to which corresponds as a microcosm with the universal macrocosm, the limbs of the human body were "Melothesie" distributed in the successor of the ancient from head to toe on the twelve zodiac signs in the representations of the zodiac men. Various strategies have been used to adjust the round Zodiakos on the upright human body or even both to integrate into each other, which has in some cases surprising similarities with late Egyptian reproductions in temples and mummy sarcophagi. The time used increasingly split axially symmetric shape of the body presented itself not only for paired zodiac sign on, but he could also, in a special, zigzag 'relegation from head to toe. Here too, recourse to find the ancient iconography, for example, in the representation of Aquarius with two urns on the lower legs, what it indeed in the Greco-Roman iconography is no parallel, but in Babylonian and late Egyptian sources. Wolfgang Hübner draws in its extensive and richly illustrated study of the zodiacal Melothesie developments in the iconography of the zodiac according to determined general formal structures, illuminates their genesis, constraints and interdependencies and covers common strategies in the at first glance as different representations of the zodiac Men on.
