“In a Space of Questions”: A Reflection on Religion and Economics at the Beginning of the Twenty-First Century (2011)

A conference paper concerning the impact of religious belief on the development of economics is presented. The author identifies three different strands of scholarship regarding this relationship: the economic analysis of religious institutions, the market analysis of religious belief, and theological considerations of economics. The conflict between religion and economics is then related to utilitarianism. The author utilizes theories from behavioral economics and moral philosophy.
