The historical development of astronomy is inseparable from the written text, and particularly the printed book. In fact, new scientific knowledge and technical progress achieved walked alongside the typographic development, and especially the illustration of the book. This catalog of the exhibition with the same name, is organized into four themes: The background to the astronomical revolution , The astronomical revolution, the celestial atlas , and Astronomy in Portugal , where are some of the most striking and significant works from each of these themes, and brings together some collections of treasures belonging to BNP, the Help Library, Lisbon Astronomical Observatory and Évora Public Library. Each bibliographic description is accompanied by a commentary, the authorship of scientific Commissioner, Prof. . Henrique Leitão With introduction of Jorge Couto, the catalog is preceded by three studies: paper stars: astronomy books from the fourteenth to the eighteenth centuries , written by Henrique Leitão, Tycho Brahe and tools that reformed astronomy , Louis and Tirapicos still D. John V patron of astronomer Bianchini , Candide Marciano da Silva.
