The Young Turk revolution of 1908 paved the way for the founding of professional and political societies thoughout the Ottoman Empire. Veterinarians were among the first to establish organizations; three Veterinary societies were formed in less than six months. One of these societies, the Society for Progress and Cooperation among Military Veterinarians (Askeri Baytarlar Terakki ve Teavün Cemiyet-i Umumisi) was under the steering of the educational staff of the Military Veterinary School in Istanbul. The Statute of 1908 details the structure and various functions of the Society, which also published a short-lived periodical entitled Ceride-i Baytari-i Askeri (Journal of Military Veterinary Medicine).
