Bernabeu Mestre, Josep (Author)
In the context of endemic trachoma affecting various Spanish regions until the 1960s, epidemiological determinants of child trachoma and its approach are analyzed from preventive care model that contained the concept of community health that are outlined in the period wars. Early detection of cases, combined with preventive, educational, therapeutic and inspection activities, such as those held visiting nurses contributed to disease control. The results confirm the validity of horizontal intervention strategies to improve hygienic conditions and environmental factors behind the prevalence of trachoma.
