The Early Modern Idea of Scientific Doctrine and Its Early Christian Origins (2014)

The article explores the impact of early Christian doctrinal theology on the development of early modern natural philosophy. The author argues that the application of doctrinal knowledge to natural philosophy also affected the cognitive aspects of Christian theology. Other topics addressed include the relationship between doctrinal thinking and Aristotelian scholasticism, the concept of mechanism in the philosophy of thinker René Descartes, and the Neoplatonic origins of doctrinal theology.
