. First, I do not believe that her account of pure mathematics can make sense of the priorities and debates internal to pure mathematics. Second, there seems to be a systematic problem in clarifying what a fictionalist accepts when she accepts a scientific theory and these problems relate in part to her attitude towards pure mathematics. Third, even if the second problem can be overcome, there are additional issues connected with the explanatory contributions which mathematics makes in science which are not sufficiently addressed in this book. I will suggest that a philosopher who believes that many of our mathematical claims are true can make better sense of these explanations.
