The importance of astrology in medieval and modern culture has long been underestimated. Despite important recent work, Latin astrology, in particular, remains unknown. This catalog, the first in a series entitled Catalogus Codicum Astrologorum Latinorum, will give a better knowledge and contribute to further research. The Bavarian State Library in Munich holds over 20,000 Latin manuscripts from the former princely libraries Munich, Mannheim and libraries Bavarian monasteries. In Specifically, this fund offers a magnificent library sample of Latin astrological literature, where all the major authors, all the great texts, all genres and all eras are presented. This catalog inventories 287 manuscripts from the Middle Ages to the eighteenth century : The astro-meteorology geomancy, apologetic texts or controversies in the description of the influence of the stars. They show the continuing role of astrology and provide essential data the practice of this discipline. Each record provides codicological data, an overview content, a bibliography regarding the entire manuscript and Finally, the location and identification of astrological sections. The ensemble is completed by three indexes.
