Radioactivity and Isotopes: A Retrospective View of Frederick Soddy (1877--1956) on the 50th Anniversary of His Death (2006)

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the death of Frederick Soddy (1877--1956), who, in 1922, received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his contributions to the chemistry of radioactive substances and his investigations into the origin and nature of isotopes, this article recounts his life and achievements with an emphasis on his work on isotopes, the displacement laws, and the social responsibility of scientists.
