Casulleras, Josep (Author)
The article discusses the Zijes astronomical table written by Ibn al-Raqqam al-Andalusi in the thirteenth century which features information on the ecliptic longitude and latitude for the rising and setting of 58 stars. Topics include the table's parameter values; the ecliptic points that cross the eastern and western horizons of Tunis, the capital city of Tunisia; and the recomputation of medieval astronomical tables. Charts are presented of stars' semidiurnal arc; the mediation path of stars on the ecliptic; and algorithms for the analysis of medieval astronomical tables.
