In the biology's teacher or researcher initial training it is relevant to understand the organization of biological knowledge and the ground in which this science was and is being built. In the beginning of 2006, the Group for Research in Epistemology of Biology (GPEB) dedicated to discuss issues related to the characterization of Biology as a specific area and the contributions of history and epistemology of biology to the teaching of biology. The aim of this paper is to present the Group's results in 2009, whose main focus in guided discussions about historical and epistemological aspects of ecology and the production of ecological science teaching sequences for secondary education.
