The article describes a difficult period in the life of Vladimir Kozma Zworykin (1888 - 1982), a Russian emigre scientist and inventor in the United States. Although he had provided important services for the US military in designing electronic systems for night vision and bombing, he came under heavy FBI surveillance during WWII, which resulted in restrictions on his civil rights and nearly cost him his job at Radio Corporation of America, the company in which Zworykin designed many of his landmark inventions.
