Chinesische Mediziner und Lebenswissenschaftler sehen sich heutzutage mit ähnlichen ethischen Konfliktsituationen konfrontiert wie ihre Kollegen in westlichen Ländern. Machbarkeit, Wünschbarkeit und traditionelle Bewertung von Eingriffen und Verfahrensweisen der modernen Heilkunde stimmen nicht immer überein. Die Breite und die Ernsthaftigkeit der in chinesischen Medien publizierten Erörterungen sind allerdings außerhalb Chinas auf Grund der sprachlichen Barriere nahezu völlig unbekannt. Der vorliegende Band stellt die Publikationen von rund 20 Autoren zu global relevanten bioethischen Fragestellungen in deutscher Übersetzung vor und leistet damit einen wichtigen Beitrag zu einer besseren Kommunikation über die politischen und kulturellen Grenzen hinweg.
