Summary: Pluto was discovered in 1930 by Clyde Tombaugh and accepted as Solar System's ninth planet. In the International Astronomical Union General Assembly held on 24 August 2006 in Prague, Pluto became a dwarf planet with Ceres, Caront and 2003B313 (Eris).
