Guo, Shi-rong (Author)
Based on an analysis of the examination system of Observatory of the Yuan dynasty which is recorded in book seven of the Yuan Mi-shu-jian Zhi (Historical Documents of the Yuan Mi-shu-jian), the present paper deals with the deficiency of astronomical communication between Chinese and Hui-hui (Arabic) astronomers in Observatory of the Yuan dynasty, and comes to the conclusion that although there would be good opportunity of communication between both sides, the Yuan authority had paid little attention to it and, therefore, had not organized very efficient communication activities so that both Chinese and Arabic sections of the observatory had worked independently, without mutual communication.
