We analyze the presence of the pharmaceutical industry of German capital in Spain, from its first manifestations, in the final decades of the 19th century, to the years immediately following the conclusion of World War II; we study the process of creation of its branches in Hispanic territory and the introduction of its technological innovations, in particular those related to chemical synthesis through procedures patented in Spain; finally we approach the consequences of World War II on the presence of German pharmaceutical industry in Spain: blockade and expropriation of German properties, filial companies as well as registered patents, a process that culminated in 1949.
