Popular Metaphors of Biosciences: Bridges over Time? (2008)

unapi

This article considers temporal discrepancies within popular metaphors of science and technology as carriers of cultural experiences and knowledge over historical time. The focus is on the recent debates on the Human Genome Project, cloning, and stem-cell research. The results show that temporal discrepancies in metaphors differ between journalistic and scientific discourses. There is need for further research on metaphors as bridges across historical periods of time in certain cultural groups.
