unapi

During the 1820s and 30s the number of uterus cervix amputations increased in France, becoming a specialty for some famous surgeons such as Jacques Lisfranc. This paper tries to elucidate the intricate reasons of his success and passion by exploring not only the scientific and technical context but also the social and professional struggles in the rising art of 19th century surgery.
