The essay's content is to investigate into the nature of the contacts that Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe established in the last twenty years of the XVI century with exponents of Italian scientific culture, and the state of the astronomical and cosmological debate at the close of the century. It is certain that Tycho in the spring of 1575 sojourned in Venice, and it is possible to hypothesise that the 1572 nova was a matter of discussion, in relation to a scientific disputation in which the Danish astronomer was an indirect protagonist. He entrusted Part III of his Astronomiae Instauratae Progymnasmata with the task of describing and confuting the many interpretations that mathematicians and natural philosophers had expressed on the nature of the nova of 1572, like those of the Italian astrologer Annibale Raimondo from Verona. He was the author of a Discorso sopra la stella, printed in Venice at the end of that year. The origin of the censure was the disparagement of the 'new' nature of the nova. It was a matter of scientific debate that showed profound differences in the analysis and interpretation of the celestial phenomenon, and involved many Italian scientists: the well-known mathematician Giovanni Battista Benedetti, the astrologer Francesco Giuntini, and the physician Giuseppe Valdagno.
