The knowledge of Blas Cabrera's career during the years of the Republic lets us know about the state of Physics and physicists in spain at the time. In this article, two different periods are distinguised in Spanish Physics during the republic, the "years of peace" and the "years of war" when physics still was meant to be cultivated. It will be shown the level of compromise, impartiality or absolute rupture with the Republic felt by Blas Cabrera and thso physicsts around him during the conflict.
