Aristide Caradja et sa grande collection de lépidoptères (2007)

unapi

Aristed Caradja (1861--1955) was a well known entomologist specializing in Asian Microlepidoptera. He had gathered a butterflies collection since his studies in France and enriched it permanently for 56 years. Besides the times collected by himself, he financed expeditions in different places of the world, bought famous collections and rare pieces so that in 1944 his collection had 120,000 items most of the Microlepidoptera. This collection was transferred in dramatic conditions to the Grigore Antipa National Natural History Museum in Bucharest.
