In 1748, the works Analytical Institution of Maria Agnesi was published, in which a versed sine curve called by her name was well-known in the circle of mathematics. She was the first woman in modern history who accurately called a mathematician, a member of the Bologna Academy of Sciences, also a professor of mathematics and natural philosophy at the University of Bologna. But, she turned to charitable work in her afterlife, spending all her money in helping the poor. This paper briefly reviews her life, excellent achievements in mathematics and outstanding contribution to the society.
