Takebe Katahiro(Japan,1664-1739) was the most outstanding and creative Wasan mathematician after Seki Takakazu. All the creative results of mathematics made by Takebe Katahiro represented a peak of studying of mathematics in Japan at that time. In the paper, the author introduces the social and scientific backgrounds during the Edo period when Takebe Katahiro lived. Based on that, the author presents a textual research on his life and his mathematical achievements, including his mathematical thought and his mathematical methodology. We reach the conclusion that Takebe opened up a new way in Wasan research from the points of view of the mathematical theory and mathematical recognition.
