Mαγoς en el Nuevo Testamento (2004)

unapi

Throught this paper we will carry out a detailede analysis of meanings traditionally proposed for noun "magos" by most of the specialized lexicons. We will also study that word's appearances in literary texts belonging to the centuries VII BC -- III AD. We will conclude that "learned man" could be the rightest sense in order to translate magos in the Gospel according to Matthew; it is clear, as linguistic evidence prove, that in certain contexts "magos" is synonymous with "sophos"; this link comes from the possiblity of proposing the same semantic formula for both terms.
