This paper discusses how Mei Wending and Kangxi had different ideas about the theory of Chinese origins of Western learning, which both had subscribed. It then insinuates into their different positions and agendas of how traditional Chinese calendrical studies should related to the Western astronomical knowledge transmitted by the missionaries.
