This paper analyses the process of the introduction of Western Calendrical Methods and principle of fortnightly periods in the 17~18th Centuries Korea. The author concludes: The Western method improved calculational precision, but it conflicted with the entire body of the Eastern tradition within which such sub-branches as Confucianism and traditional systems of divination were interrelated. The Western calendrical method defeated the Chinese one, it ultimately could not overcome the core of Eastern tradition.
