Description Friedrich Paschen (1804-1873), a lawyer, was the scientific and technical head of the Mecklenburg land survey. He attended Gauß' lectures on mathematics, astronomy and geodesy as a student in Göttingen. Includes Paschen's correspondence with Gauß and other scientists.
