Description “I would like to argue that Jesuit long-distance networks provided the infrastructure, and the learned ministries the initial justification for the Society's entry into so many branches of early modern science, an entry marked by the emergence of specific literary forms, or genres, of scientific publication. Or to state the matter rather simply, the means of Jesuit science are to be found in the operation of networks and its ends in confession-building among the learned.”
