Kaitai Sinsho: The historic Japanese translation of a Dutch anatomical text (1985)

unapi

Description The Dutch translation by Cardus Battus in 1649 of De la Chirurgerie (1564) by Ambroise Paré (1510-1590) was retranslated into Japanese by Narayabashi Chinzan (1648-1711) in 1706. This and other translations started the relaxation of Japanese isolationism.
