Physics and the emergence of molecular biology: A history of cognitive and political synergy (1990)

unapi

Description “I wish to argue, in short, that the intersection of physics and early molecular biology provides an illustration of the dual (and conjoint) workings of the Baconian and the Foucaultian equations between knowledge and power--that is, of the social and material dimensions of the knowledge/power nexus. To make this argument, I shall review three familiar moments in the prehistory and early history of molecular biology, figured in the contributions of three individuals: Warren Weaver, H.J. Muller, and Erwin Schrödinger.”
